Original oil paintings at the 2025 AGH Annual Art Sale

The Art Gallery of Hamilton’s Annual Art Sale is your opportunity to purchase original artwork by established and emerging Canadian artists. I’m excited to share that I’ve been selected to participate! Three of my large-scale oil paintings will be available for collectors looking to invest in impressionistic landscapes.

Each of these paintings represents a location in Ontario, offering a bold presence for any space. Whether you’re a seasoned art collector or looking to invest in your first original painting, come experience the incredible talent of our local artist community all in one place.

Here’s a closer look at the three paintings available for acquisition at the AGH Art Sale from April 24–27, 2025.

Stormy sunset, 2024

48” x 36” Oil on Canvas – $3000

Original Ontario oil painting of a sunset

Inspired by an August evening on an Ontario farm, Stormy Sunset captures the feeling of dark clouds rolling in at sunset. With the horizon line near the bottom of the painting, I wanted to exaggerate the feeling of these clouds pushing the sun below the horizon line.

This painting blends abstract and impressionistic elements. I found it interesting to make the clouds more abstract as they darkened. I associate darkness with a lack of understanding. By simplifying the forms, I think it gives a different perspective of that imposing darkness.
Sometimes, I find myself chasing the edge of an idea, the start of something not yet fully formed, and this painting is one of those moments. I think I discovered something interesting that I hope to explore more in future works.

This painting is for collectors who appreciate bold compositions and colour pallets. It’s perfect for a contemporary home, office, or gallery setting.

Hamilton reeds at dusk, 2024

48” x 24” Oil on Canvas – $2350

Original art: reeds and waterfront at dusk oil painting

This painting was inspired by the golden hour on the Desjardins Recreation Trail near the Hamilton waterfront. With its warm palette, this work invites reflection, making it an ideal focal point for a living room, study, or reception space.

Rather than painting every blade of grass in detail, I worked in an impressionistic style that emphasized light and movement.
This is the first time I intentionally painted the sky so abstractly with defined edges with a swooping movement. I liked it and took this into future paintings.

For collectors looking for a grounded, peaceful work with a strong sense of place, this painting offers a timeless connection to Hamilton’s natural beauty.

Hamilton Airport sunset, 2025

48” x 30” Oil on Canvas – $2950

Sunsets and sunrises remind us that beauty is temporary, and this painting captures that moment in a lasting way. Inspired by a sunset near Hamilton’s airport, this painting features dramatic cloud formations and a high contrast between warm and cool hues.

One of my artistic philosophies is that the paint is part of the story. Yes, I am depicting a sunset, but it’s important for the image to still be beautiful even when representation falls away.
An example is how the sky is abstract in parts, then melts into more expressive details. This creates a work that reads bold from a distance and offers rich texture up close.

This painting is for collectors who want a statement piece.
